eBay and the FCC: How you should protect personal and company information.

Please join us for a lively discussion on privacy and data security issues with Ryan Marsh, Counsel at eBay, and Lisa Hone, Counsel at the Federal Communications Commission, formerly with the Federal Trade Commission. Ms. Hone will be joining us from Washington, D.C. via video conference.


Elizabeth "Lisa" Hone
Lisa Hone is special counsel in the Competition Policy Division in the Wireline Competition Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). At the FCC, Lisa led the team that drafted recently adopted rules implementing the Truth in Caller ID Act, and she works with the team responsible for considering privacy issues at the FCC. Before joining the staff of the FCC, Lisa was an Assistant Director in the Division of Marketing Practices int he Bureau of Consumer Protection at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). At the FTC, Lisa supervised federal court litigation against defendants alleged to have engaged in unfair and deceptive acts and practices in violation of the FTC Act, and she did policy work relating to the convergence of information, entertainment and communications platforms.

Ryan Marsh

Ryan Marsh is Litigation Counsel for eBay Inc. based in eBay's Draper, Utah office.  As Litigation Counsel, Ryan and his team supervise state and federal litigation on behalf of eBay Inc. and its affiliated companies, including PayPal, Inc., StubHub, Inc., Bill Me Later, Inc., and GSI Commerce Inc.  Before joining eBay, Ryan was a civil litigator at law firms in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area, where his practice included representing Fortune 500 companies in consumer litigation.  The protection of the privacy of its community of users is a very important principle to eBay.  eBay and its affiliates dedicate substantial time and energy on privacy issues including through participation in groups such as the FCC’s Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council and the W3C’s Tracking Protection Working Group.
